Blake Lively Discusses Her ‘Insecurity’ Over Shooting a Movie in a Bikini Just Months After Having a Baby

Blake Lively spoke with Australia’s Herald Sun recently about the task of preparing to shoot a film in a bikini right after giving birth to her first child.

“The struggle is that I am doing a movie in a bikini eight months after having a baby and there is a level of insecurity and vanity that comes with that,” she shared.

In The Shallows, Lively plays a surfer who accidentally stumbles upon the feed ground of a ginormous great white shark and she wanted to be in top physical shape for the demanding shoot.

“You don’t want to be the person in the magazines that they are saying ‘ugh, look at her’ rather than ‘wow, look at her,'” Lively said.

“That’s a shame because there shouldn’t be that negative ‘ugh’ after someone has a baby,” she continued. “Your body is so beautiful. You couldn’t walk a Victoria’s Secret runway but it’s beautiful in a completely different and incredible way and I do wish I had the bravery to go out there and represent women as they actually look.”

Lively gave birth to her first daughter, James, with husband Reynolds in Dec. 2014. Not long after, she began an intensive training program to prepare for The Shallows.

“I don’t look like that in real life. That’s not me,” said Lively, who is already pregnant with her second child. “That was an eight-week period of my life. I’m luck to have an amazing trainer, this guy Don Saladino, who just kicked my butt.”
