That Time Britney Spears Almost Drowned at Sea

Britney Spears Spends an Insane Amount of Money on Her Dogs
The pop princess is sure living up to her title.

Though Britney Spears drowned in a bathtub in her “Everytime” music video, life almost imitated art when she was sucked out to sea by a strong undertow while vacationing in Hawaii.

According to the “Make Me” singer, she had a recent brush with death after hitting the beach. Speaking with BBC Radio 1, Spears, 34, recalled the time she almost drowned while her security team did nothing on shore.

“I went to Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. It was beautiful. The waves were like six feet tall,” she remembered. “I completely embarrassed myself. I went out and I thought it was like a wave pool, and I thought, ‘This is so nice and refreshing and beautiful,’ but the thing I didn’t think about is when you come back the waves really come in hard and I got sucked under for like five minutes.”

Still dreaming a mile a minute… 💙

“Literally I almost drowned, and I’m like, ‘Where is my security? They’re just going to let me die here, you know?'” she shared, “and then I came in again and another wave took me under so I kind of made a fool of myself.”

However, Spears took the whole ordeal in stride. While most would have panicked when put in that situation, the mom-of-two saw the incident as something “fun.”

“I got to experience what it was like to be taken down by a 6-foot wave,” she joked, adding that her security team kind of just sat by the sidelines as she tried to swim her way to shore. “They just kind of left me there. I think they knew I could survive my way through it.”
