Michael Bublé on Fatherhood: ‘Being a Dad Gives You Perspective’
Forget about the big music career, fatherhood has given Michael Bublé his main purpose in life.
The crooner spoke with E! News at the launch of his first women’s fragrance, By Invitation, and explained how being a dad to sons Noah, 5, and Elias, 7 months, “defines” him.
“I think being a dad gives you perspective. I think really being a parent is a massive blessing,” he said. “It’s allowed me to understand deeply that what I do for a living – creating music and art and getting to be a part of a fragrance or a movie – is my job. It isn’t what defines me. What defines me is I’m Noah and Eli’s dad.”
He and his gorgeous wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, have been married for five years, and he cherishes every moment he has with his family of four. “I just want to be with them. I leave a lot, so when I can be there with them, that’s my true happiness,” adding, “When I’m nervous and I’m insecure and I’m scared of challenging myself or leaving my comfort zone, [fatherhood] just gives me context and allows me to understand what’s important.”

Bublé recently had to undergo vocal cord surgery, but is now fully recovered and working on releasing his ninth studio album. Does he think his sons show any signs of following in dad’s footsteps? He joked, “I think one of them is going to grow up to be Spiderman,” he joked. “If they want to be ballet dancers or athletes or stay-at-home dads, whatever they do, I just love them.”
