Katy Perry’s 10 Most Iconic VMA Moments
The pop star has taken the VMA stage by storm with three amazing performances and racked up a whopping 24 VMA nominations throughout her career. She’s also rocked some legendary looks on the VMA’s red carpet that she used to walk with her once go-to VMA date, ex-husband Russell Brand.
While we’re patiently hoping Katy Perry will make her return to the VMA stage this year (a “Bad Blood” comeback, anyone?), here’s a look back at her 10 most memorable VMA moments.
Perry’s first time attending the MTV VMAs was back in 2008 where she rocked the VMA stage for the first time with her breakout hit, “I Kissed a Girl.” The 2008 awards show is also marked by a photo of Perry looking like BFFs with Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, a rare picture that reminds us of much simpler times.
Perry has given us some epic MTV VMAs finales, like her “We Will Rock You” closing performance with Joe Perry in 2010. Her fierce show-stopping, boxing-themed presentation of “Roar” that she performed under the Brooklyn Bridge in 2013 was also a winner.
But Perry’s most recent iconic VMA moment was on the pre-show red carpet, when she and rapper Riff Raff recreated Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s matching, all-denim outfits circa 2001. Their red-carpet look was just as good as the original power couple’s, if not better.
