Taylor Swift’s 10 Most Iconic VMA Moments
Since Kanye West’s iconic interruption, Taylor Swift has become an MTV VMA staple, returning to the awards show with a new feud to fuel every year. It seems that the MTV VMAs always revolve around Taylor Swift’s real-life drama that is aired, inevitably, for all to witness.
Though Taylor is not up for any awards at this year’s VMAs, we are already hanging in anticipation of the beef that she’ll be a part of this year. Whether it’s a Katy Perry comeback or some more shade thrown by Kim, the possibilities are endless.
The year was 2009, and Taylor Swift was just a 19-year-old, country-singing VMA rookie when Kanye West stormed the stage to let us know that “Beyoncé had one of the best music videos of all time,” an infamous moment that has somehow managed to stay just as relevant now as it was 7 years ago.
At last year’s VMAs, Taylor Swift’s feuds seemed to be the theme of the night: she surprised us all by teaming up with Nicki Minaj after their VMA Twitter spat, she strutted around with her “Bad Blood” girl squad to make her entire night a subtweet at Katy Perry, and she presented Kanye West with his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, a brief moment of friendship that we all watched with suspicion.
Even when she’s not onstage at the VMAs, Taylor is still getting tons of VMA attention. Let us all remember that time she was caught saying “shut the f*ck up” in the audience while Harry Styles was accepting an award at the 2013 show.
Here’s to the girl who knows how to stir up some good old VMA drama. We can’t wait for more.
