Chris Brown Arrested on Charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon
After an hourslong standoff against the Los Angeles police department, Chris Brown came peacefully out of his Tarzana home on Tuesday (Aug. 30) afternoon and was taken into custody on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
According to USA Today, the LAPD confirmed that the singer was “arrested at some point this afternoon.” LAPD public information Officer Tony Im said Brown was arrested with his lawyer, Mark Geragos, by his side, after a “thorough investigation” that produced “probable cause” for arrest.
The ordeal began in the early morning hours on Tuesday when a woman, Baylee Curran, claimed Brown pulled a gun on her while she was looking at some jewelry in his home and told her to “get the f**k out.”
The police arrived to Brown’s house to investigate the call-in and attempted to enter the premises but was denied and told to obtain a search warrant.
In the meantime, Brown post a few NSFW videos from inside his home, in which he railed against the police and proclaimed his innocence.
The LAPD told media outlets that several people were escorted from Brown’s residence after the search warrant was served around 1PM and that everyone had been cooperative. TMZ also reports Brown turned over a duffel bag containing a least one gun, other unspecified weapons, and some drugs.
Brown will be booked into a LAPD jail facility before being transferred to county jail, and will be able to post bail if he chooses.
