Gabby Douglas ‘Feeling Much Better’ After Getting Cyst Removed From Mouth

Gabby Douglas Tearfully Responds to the Haters
The champ speaks out against the barrage of criticism she has dealt with during her time in Rio Olympics.

Days after missing out on attending the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards with her fellow Final Five gymnasts due to health issues, Gabby Douglas is giving fans an update on her current condition.

According to the gold medal-winning Olympian, she recently had to seek treatment after a cyst had developed in her mouth due to a complication from a previous injury.

“Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I’m doing ok!” Douglas wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (Aug. 30, 2016). “I had a complication from a prior injury that caused cyst to grow on a bone in my mouth. Got it removed and feeling much better now!”

The 20-year-old added, “HUGE thank you to the doctors that have taken care of me these last four days!”

Douglas had to bow out of Sunday’s MTV VMAs while her Rio Olympics teammates presented an award to Beyoncé. At the time, Simone Biles told the audience that Douglas couldn’t make it because she was “having medical issues.”
