Amber Heard Drops Defamation Lawsuit Against Comedian Doug Stanhope

Amber Heard allegedly dropped the defamation lawsuit against Johnny Depp’s friend, comedian Doug Stanhope.

TMZ reports that they’ve obtained court documents which state that Heard is no longer pursuing legal action against Stanhope that she filed in June when he wrote a guest column for TheWrap that claimed that she was blackmailing Depp following her initial accusations of his domestic abuse.

Heard’s representatives told TMZ that “Amber is moving on, getting back to work and leading a normal, happy life” while other sources say that this decision is a part of Heard’s divorce settlement with Depp.

The original lawsuit filed by Heard against Stanhope read:

“Defendants [Stanhope and several unnamed persons] orchestrated a plot to write an article, which was published at TheWrap.com, which falsely accuses plaintiff Amber Heard of ‘blackmail’ and other criminal behavior toward her husband, Johnny Depp, from whom she is seeking a divorce.”

Stanhope later defended the article in an interview with Howard Stern by saying that he wrote the column on his website but did not author the title, “Johnny Depp Is Being Blackmailed by Amber Heard – Here’s How I Know.”

“I didn’t write that f–king title. I didn’t put that stupid tabloid title in there,” Stanhope told Stern. “I’m a better writer than that, so I don’t know if it’s hinged on that, I don’t know how much of it is spite.”
