Simon Cowell Weighs in on Zayn Malik’s Forthcoming Boy Band-Centered TV Show: ‘He Should Have Come to Me’

Due to ‘Extreme Anxiety,’ Zayn Malik Cancels Upcoming Concert
Gigi Hadid’s handsome beau has decided to call off yet another concert...

Simon Cowell, the man responsible Zayn Malik’s rise to fame in One Direction, spoke with Entertainment Tonight about discovering that the young crooner would be executive producing a new scripted show about a boy band…without him. His response was diplomatic but firm.

Nothing surprises me anymore,” said Cowell at a live taping of America’s Got Talent. “He should have come to me with it.”

As we previously reported, Malik will be backing Boys, a new NBC show that centers on a rising boy band and the members’ exploits. It will focus on the price of fame and feature loads of original music.

As the interview with Cowell wrapped up, the businessman made sure to reiterate his earlier statement, almost speaking directing to Malik and his former 1D brothers:

“I do actually believe that when they’ve got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me.”

Malik, who hasn’t responded to Cowell’s comments, was spotted dropped by his girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s apartment today (Sept. 7, 2016), bundled up as if it were the dead of winter in New York. Check out his arrival in the gallery above!
