‘Making a Murderer’: Wisconsin Prosecutors Fighting to Keep Brendan Dassey in Prison
State litigators are working to make sure that Brendan Dassey stays right where he is.
According to TMZ, Wisconsin’s Attorney General is filing a federal appeal to overturn a recent lower court reversal of Dassey’s conviction for the murder of Teresa Halbach. As we previously reported, the decision is based on the fact that Dassey was 16 at the time of his interrogation and didn’t have a guardian present, violating his rights.
Dassey and his uncle, Steven Avery, were the subjects of the Netflix’s hit docuseries Making a Murderer, which argues that they were framed for the murder by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department.
As of now, Dassey is scheduled to be released from prison in November.
