Naya Rivera on Mark Salling’s Child Porn Charges: ‘I Can’t Say I Was Totally Shocked’

Here's How Naya Rivera's Husband Reacted to Her Secret Abortion
According to her, it's the "kindest" thing any man could've said.

Naya Rivera doesn’t hold back when it comes to spilling about her former castmates. Aside from the tea about her fallout with Glee co-star Lea Michele, the actress speaks candidly about former boyfriend Mark Salling — and, more importantly, his career-ending arrest for possessing child pornography — in her new memoir.

According to Rivera, she definitely dodged a bullet there.

“I can’t say I was totally shocked, but still – WTF?” she wrote in Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up.

“My son’s nanny actually told me about it when the story broke,” she explained. “Then I had no doubt that God really did have my back along the way.”

While filming Glee, Rivera, 29, and Salling, 34, dated on-and-off for three years before parting ways in 2010. In the book, Rivera said she was dumped after Salling’s publicist claimed a public relationship wasn’t good for his image. In retaliation, she poured dog food, Coca-Cola, eggs and birdseed all over his car.

“I had a feeling his pretending to be single had … more to do with his dick,” she remembered of their tumultuous romance, adding that Salling had said “I love you” while high on ecstasy just four months into their relationship. “When Mark dumped me, I thought it was the worst thing ever … but can you imagine if that didn’t happen? And I was laying there in bed when the battering ram came through the door?”

“I think everyone should have that one relationship where you look back and ask yourself, ‘What the hell was I thinking?’ You’ll learn something and you won’t regret it,” Rivera continued. “Unless, of course, that relationship was with someone who had a sizable stash of child porn on his computer. Then, by all means, regret everything.”

In June, Salling pleaded not guilty to a two-count indictment that accused him of obtaining and possessing child porn after investigators found a laptop, a hard drive, and a USB flash drive in his home that “contained thousands of images and videos depicting child pornography.”

A court hearing for his case is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2016.
