Ryan Lochte Breaks His Silence About ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Protestors

Ryan Lochte Talk 10-Month Suspension
"It’s heartbreaking and it stinks."

Just days after anti-Lochte protestors disrupted a live taping of Dancing with the Stars, Ryan Lochte is breaking his silence and speaking out against the hate.

In a note shared on his Instagram account, the Olympic medalist thanked his friends, family and fans for their support following the incident. Lochte also expressed his gratitude for dance partner Cheryl Burke, who was standing beside him when the protestors stormed the stage.

“I want to thank my family, girlfriend, friends and fans for being so supportive of me after the incident on Dancing with the Stars Monday night,” he wrote. “When I was asked to join the show, the one thing that I kept hearing was that it was like joining a big family. After Monday night’s incident, I now know what that means.”

“I have gotten so much love from everyone on the show, including Cheryl, my fellow competitors, the producers, the security team and its fans. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the show, and more than ever, I am dedicated to my new family and to working hard to do my best.”

According to sources inside the studio at the time of the protest, a whole row of audience members donned on anti-Lochte shirts as two people from the group tried to rush the stage when the swimmer was awaiting to hear his results from the judges. Security was able to apprehend the protestors and escorted all of them off the premise. Two individuals were arrested and charged with trespassing.

“I’m doing good. So many feelings are going through my head right now. A little hurt,” Lochte said during the show. “I came out here and I wanted to do something I was completely uncomfortable with, and I did.”
