For the last eight years, President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama, have lived in the White House (as President’s and First Lady’s do), and as a result, their lives have been drastically different than that of us regular Americans.
But in just a few short months, The President and First Lady will be leaving the White House in favor of a much simpler life, and Ellen DeGeneres wants to make sure they’re prepared. DeGeneres decided the first step to assimilating to the life of a commoner, is learning how to shop for yourself, something Michelle hasn’t had to do in almost a decade. So Michelle and DeGeneres headed to their local CVS to pick up a few things, and things got weird.
First, Michelle and DeGeneres hit up the Coin Star machine and are disappointed to learn it doesn’t dispense cash. Next, they tried to get their hands on some cash, but it turns out the First Lady doesn’t even know how to use an ATM.
Soon after, the duo got tripped up by some headphones that were kept under lock and key, prompting the First Lady to call for help over the megaphone DeGeneres brought along for the trip.
But the best moment by far happened when the First Lady found some wine in a box. “How does this work?,” she wondered before asking, “How do you get it out of here?” With the help of a fellow customer, they get the box wine flowing and begin passing cups out to a group of shoppers.
