Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Ex Nick Gordon Found Legally Responsible in Wrongful Death Case
On Friday (Sept. 16, 2016), Nick Gordon was a no-show at court in the wrongful death suit surrounding the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown. Afterward, Gordon, Brown’s ex-boyfriend, was found “legally responsible” for her death.
“Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled today that Nick Gordon is legally responsible for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death after the defendant failed to appear in court,” a statement says, via Us Weekly. “A jury will determine the amount of damages to be awarded to Brown’s conservator.”
The Atlanta NBC affiliate 11Alive spoke briefly with the attorney for Brown’s estate who shared a statement: “In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown. The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer, he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that.”
In 2015, Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found unresponsive in a bathtub. She was then placed in a medically induced coma for six months before dying in July of last year. Quickly after, Brown’s family filed the $50 million wrongful suit against Gordon.
As of now, Gordon is yet to be criminally charged.
