Jim Carrey Sued for Wrongful Death
The estranged husband of Jim Carrey’s late girlfriend filed a wrongful death suit against Carrey today (Sept. 19, 2016), claiming the 54-year-old actor supplied Cathriona White with the drugs she used to kill herself in 2015.
People has confirmed that Mark Burton, White’s husband, filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming Carrey used the name “Arthur King” to acquire drugs, which he passed on to White, knowing full well that she had battled depression and suicidal thoughts in the past.
At the time of White’s death, the coroner shared that four types of medication where found near White’s body: Ambien, Percocet, Propranolol and Zofran. None of which were prescribed to the then-30-year-old. The suit also alleges that Carrey attempted to cover his tracks by texting White after her death that he lost the drugs.
“We look forward to the facts and evidence relating to Mr. Carrey’s conduct and role in the death of Ms. White coming to light,” Burton’s lawyer Michael Avenatti told People in a statement.
