Jared Leto to Star in Andy Warhol Biopic
Jared Leto is not one to shy away from challenging roles.
Fresh off of his Suicide Squad debut, with an Oscar winning performance to his name, Leto will next tackle iconic pop artist Andy Warhol in an upcoming biopic.
Warhol, inspired by Victor Bockris’ 1989 book Warhol: The Biography, will also see Leto in the producer seat alongside Captain Philips producer Michael De Luca. The duo plans for this film adventure to be a mainstream debut rather than a small indie flick.
The project may not be production yet, but Boardwalk Empire creator and The Wolf of Wall Street screenwriter Terrence Winter is set to write the screenplay.
Warhol, a Pittsburgh-native, came from a working class family and struggled with hypochondria at an early age. While attending the Carnegie Institute of Technology, he discovered his passion for art. During his career, he made an impact within the art scene through notable work that look at fame and consumerism through familiar images.
A role like this can’t be done by just any actor. But, we think Leto will manage just fine. Besides, who else could play the eccentric Warhol better than Leto?
As a method actor who will dedicate his time to perfecting the famed artist to a tee, we expect nothing less than perfection from Warhol.
