Margot Robbie to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’, The Weeknd Performing
Margot Robbie will be hosting the premiere episode of Saturday Night Live’s 42nd season.
The Suicide Squad star is set to taking on the big gig on Oct. 1, while The Weeknd, whose new album Starboy is due out Nov. 25 and will feature a collaboration with Daft Punk, is serving as the night’s musical guest.
The announcement of Robbie’s hosting duties follows news that several of SNL’s primary cast members was let go over the summer. Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah, who both joined the lineup in 2010, parted ways with the NBC sketch comedy show to pursue their respective Showtime pilots, Mating and White Famous. Jon Rudnitsky, too, left the series following a one-year run.
Replacements for exiting comedians include Leslie Jones and Pete Davidson, who have been promoted to featured players. Meanwhile, newcomers Mikey Day, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor are slated to make their debut in the upcoming season.
