Is This the Woman Who Broke Up Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?
April Florio, a woman who once claimed Brad Pitt had tried to kiss her over when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston, is in the news again amid news of the actor’s divorce with Angelina Jolie. More than ten years since she allegedly told the press that Pitt made a move on her in 2003 during a three-day stay in Greece, the model is now clearing the air about the true nature of her relationship with Pitt.
According to Florio, she has never had a fling with the dad-of-six despite a previous interview with Us Weekly where she allegedly claimed she rebuffed Pitt’s advances. Furthermore, Florio insists not the person who broke up Pitt’s marriage with Jolie.
“I am saddened at the end of anyone’s partnership,” she tells U.K’s The Mirror. “I wish them nothing but the easiest transition into their new lives and hope that the they can stay strong with a nice support system and lean on their families.”
“I am very serious about my work … I was then. I do a lot of behind the scenes work now in music and films because of all of that,” she adds, when asked about why she allegedly told the media about Pitt before infamously backtracking on her comments. “I like having a private life. It’s pretty simple, don’t believe what you read.”
Back in 2005, Florio appeared in an issue of Us Weekly, telling the magazine that Pitt put the moves on her after they were introduced by George Clooney. Though the publication taped their interview, Florio since denied that she ever spoke to them about Pitt.
“He hated his wife’s chain-smoking,” she allegedly said at the time. “He also hated the fact that she liked to hang with her friends or just stay at home. He liked to go to parties more.”
“He was attracted to me,” Florio was quoted saying. “He was shocked [when I turned him down]. He asked me why … I did not want to get involved with someone in the industry.”
Earlier this month, both Jolie and Pitt released separate statements explaining their breakup.
“Angelina Jolie-Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage,” a statement from Jolie, who filed for divorce citing irreconcilable difference, read. “This decision was made for the health of the family.”
“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Pitt said in his own statement. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
