Leonardo DiCaprio Is Headed to the White House to Discuss Climate Change

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to meet with President Barack Obama next week to discuss climate change.

The White House announced Sunday (Sept. 25, 2016) that the two will engage in a conversation about “the importance of protecting the one planet we’ve got for future generations” with climate scientist Dr. Katharine Hayho. It will be followed by a screening of the actor’s documentary Before the Flood.

The event – called South by South Lawn– will take place on Monday, Oct. 3 at the White House and will also feature appearances from the cast of Stranger Things.

DiCaprio’s meeting with POTUS come after he made climate change the centre of his Oscars acceptance speech earlier this year. “Climate change is real. It is happening right now,” he said while accepting his first Academy Award. “It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.”
