Miley Cyrus Admits She’s Never Been a Fan of Mariah Carey

Miley Cyrus recently decided she’ll no longer walk red carpets because there are more important things happening in the world outside of Hollywood. Which is why her latest admission that she’s never really been a fan of Mariah Carey should come as no surprise.

Unlike Cyrus, who seems to be fed up with Hollywood, Carey absolutely thrives in the spotlight and is the person everyone thinks of when they hear the word “diva.” And this is exactly what doesn’t sit well with Cyrus. “I’ve never really been a fan, because it’s so much about Mariah Carey. That’s part of her shtick; I can see through that,” Cyrus admitted to Elle.

“It’s about what she’s wearing, and it’s about her,” she continued. “What I make isn’t about me. It’s about sharing my story; it’s about someone being connected to what I’m saying.”

Cyrus went on to explain that despite her privileged life, she never set out to be a Hollywood staple the likes of Carey. “I did not grow up spoiled in any way. I just wanted to be on TV,” she said of being on Hannah Montana at just 11-years-old. “I was probably the least paid person on my cast because I didn’t know any better. I was just like, I can be on Disney!”
