A TV Special About Brangelina’s Divorce Was Reportedly ‘Canceled’

There might have been a one-hour special about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce in the works, but according to sources, the production wasn’t meant to be either.

Page Six reports that Peacock Productions, NBC’s in-house production company, put a last-minute halt on the special that was commissioned by Lifetime in fear of burning bridges with Pitt and Jolie.

“The special was canceled at the last minute — the show had already booked talking heads, hair and makeup, B-roll . . . Staffers were working to slam it all together,” a source told Page Six of the special. “Now they’re all like, ‘F**k! We just did all this work for nothing?’”

According to The Daily Beast, NBC’s hope is that they might be the outlet to get the exclusive post-divorce interview with either Jolie or Pitt.

“Every journalist in the world is going after that exclusive,” an executive told the tabloid. “It’s as big as it gets.”

Page Six claims that Peacock Productions sent out emails to news outlets, including their staff, asking them to take part in the special without mentioning Lifetime’s involvement in the project. Celebuzz was never contacted to contribute, but here is a sneak peak of our two cents on the matter anyway in an episode of our Celebuzz’d podcast that explores why the public was so fascinated with Brangelina as a couple.
