According to sources with The Hollywood Reporter, CNN newsman Anderson Cooper has signed a new contract with his network and opted out of joining Live with Kelly.

Anderson, who has frequently been a guest co-host on the daytime show, declined the position believe that balancing Live and Anderson Cooper 360 will be too difficult to manage considering his CNN show requires a significant amount of traveling. But he is still going to be appearing on 60 Minutes from time to time, as he has done in previous seasons.

According to THR, Cooper has always made it clear that his commitments at CNN are his top priority, the network he has called home since 2001 when he left ABC.

So who in still in contention to replace Michael Strahan? Neil Patrick Harris also guest hosts on the show, but he has already said that does not want the position full time. That leaves Fred Savage at the moment…
