Actress, singer and all-around inspiration Hailee Steinfeld sat down for an interview with Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1 where she revealed that all of the members of Taylor Swift’s coveted squad manage to stay in contact by messaging each other on a Whatsapp group chat they set up.

“We try to [speak a lot],” she said. “It’s so crazy being all over the world at the same time and rarely being in the same place at the same time. But it’s so much fun to stay in contact and find each other along the way and all get caught up.”

During the interview, Steinfeld also explained why their rare actual gatherings always appear so fabulous. She said that they only see each other when their schedules allow for it, or when they’re invited to the same glitzy event.

“When we are all together it does feel like a big reunion, and it normally happens to be when we are all dressed up and look a lot nicer than we normally do, so it looks a lot cooler than it is.”

Although a lot of shade has befallen Swift’s tight-knit crew of besties in recent days, Steinfeld defended their friendships. The 19-year-old said the group is important to her because they understand the non-stop demands of working in the entertainment industry because their schedules are equally hectic.

“I went through a period of time when some of my friends didn’t understand that what I was doing was more important than calling them back,” she explained. “So it’s nice to now have someone that understands and does the same thing that you’re doing.”
