Jim Carrey Slapped with a Second Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Jim Carrey Fires Back at Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Jim Carrey is speaking out against the wrongful death lawsuit filed against him.

Jim Carrey is facing more accusations and legal trouble in the wake of ex-girlfriend Cathriona White’s suicide from an overdose of prescription drugs last year.

According to TMZ, White’s mother, Brigid Sweetman, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the actor on Tuesday (Oct. 11, 2016), claiming Carrey not only gave her daughter three sexually transmitted diseases but dumped her after she confronted him about it and tried to silence her with “fixers.”

In the legal docs, Sweetman states her daughter learned from a doctor in 2013 she had contracted two types of herpes and chlamydia, and when confronted, Carrey denied the allegations and claimed White contracted the diseases from someone else. When he ended the relationship after White persisted, he allegedly told her, “You have become too much drama.”

The lawsuit then claims Carrey hired “fixers” to threaten White and force her to be quiet, and it was this emotional turmoil that lead her to overdose on Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet, drugs that were allegedly Carrey’s prescriptions filled under a pseudonym.

This lawsuit follows another one filed by White’s estranged husband, Mark Burton, in September. He also claims Carrey gave White STDs and provided her with the prescription medication.

At the time, the actor’s reps said Burton was just shamelessly trying to profit off White’s death. “This is a desperate, bogus claim made by the ‘husband’ of the sham marriage,” Carrey’s attorney Martin Singer told TMZ.

No word yet from Carrey’s camp on these latest allegations.
