Kanye West, Jay Z, and Frank Ocean Cleared of $3 Million Lawsuit

After a two-year legal battle, Kanye West, Jay Z, and Frank Ocean were finally cleared of a $3 million copyright infringement lawsuit.

The suit filed by singer-songwriter Joel McDonald claimed that the trio copied his song, “Made in America.”

Page Six reports:

A federal appeals court ruled Friday that the hip-hop stars’ 2011 hit “Made in America” did not copy a 2009 track with the same name by singer-songwriter Joel McDonald.

McDonald claimed that the powerhouse trio swiped his song after their “Watch the Throne” album producer, Mike Dean, bought one of McDonald’s CDs.
