Lorde Donates $10,000 to Struggling Family in Need

Lorde Live-Tweets Hilarious Uber Ride with Starstruck Driver
The songstress learned her driver was starstruck... but not by her.

This week, Lorde reminded all of us that part of being “royal” is caring for those less fortunate than you. When she came across a New Zealand family struggling to make ends meet, she stepped up in a big way.

Devora Bush is a mother of three living in Auckland, New Zealand. According to a report by Women’s Dayone of her daughters, Rheegan, is severely autistic and requires 24-hour care and supervision. Devorah had to give up her job as a teacher to care for her daughter, while her husband is unable to work due to hearing loss and other health issues.

To make matters worse, their home had a severe leak and they needed to rent a second place to live while their home was being repaired. As you can imagine, paying double rent put quite a strain on the family and a relative set up a page on GiveALittle, a website that lets you donate to people in need, to help them out.

That’s where New Zealand-born Lorde came in. She came across the page and decided to help out with a generous donation of $10,000.

“Sending best wishes and love to you and your parent, Rhee. Xxxx,” wrote one Ella Yelich-O’Connor (Lorde).

Bush told Women’s Day that she was amazed by the singer’s generosity. “There’s no personal connection so I’m very humbled that she would think of us,” she said.
