All of Your Faves Were at Hillary Clinton’s Stronger Together Fundraiser

Hollywood’s biggest event last night was actually at a political rally somewhere in New York City. Celebrities came out in droves on Monday (Oct. 17, 2016) to St. James Theater for Hillary Clinton’s Stronger Together fundraiser.

Harnessing both star power and musical talent, the star-studded get-together featured live performances from Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Emily Blunt, Jon Hamm, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Groban and Broadway sensation Lin-Manuel Miranda. Julia Roberts, Helen Mirren, Ansel Elgort, Angela Bassett, Lena Dunham, Sarah Paulson and Uzo Aduba were also in attendance to deliver speeches and monologues.

Billy Crystal, who was the emcee for the event, cracked jokes about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, telling attendees, “Our goal tonight is simple: we need to raise more money than Donald Trump lost in 1995.”

“He’s the human form of the hurricane season: starts out with a lot of hot air, gets you spinning out of control and hits America and causes a lot of damage and panic. But it’s completely over by November,” he said. “He’s like a 7/11: he’s open 24 hours and he’s trying to sell us crap that we don’t want.”

After charging $45 to $2,700 for tickets with some premium packages costing upwards of $100,000, the star-studded event raised approximately $2.3 million for the Hillary Victory Fund, according to CNN. Overall, 1,700 guests were in attendance.

While Clinton herself wasn’t there to rub elbows with A-listers, Bill and Chelsea Clinton was in the crowd to show support.

“Think our country is going to hell in a handbag? How can you look at all this talent up here and think anything other than we’re still so fortunate,” the former POTUS addressed the audience. “Hillary offers answers in the face of anger, empowerment in the face of resentment, cooperation in the face of endless conflict and a future of bridges not walls. That’s what stronger together means.”
