James Franco Sued After Alleged Headbutt
According to a report by TMZ, photographer David Tonnessen says he was attacked by Franco in 2014 while taking photos of Del Rey at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. He says the actor charged at him, unprovoked, and headbutted him in the stomach.
The report says Tonnessen described Franco as “smiling, rather demonically” when he first saw him. Then, when Franco allegedly attacked Tonnessen, he describes “a blank expression of joy on his face.”
There is no video of the incident, so barring other evidence coming to light it appears to be Tonnessen’s word against Franco’s. According to Variety, Tonnessen says he suffered “severe and permanent physical damage and is suing Franco for “assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
Representatives for Franco have not yet commented to anyone about the incident.
