‘Real O’Neals’ Star Noah Galvin on His Offensive Comments: ‘I Totally Recognize That I Messed Up’
Noah Galvin found himself at the center of a PR hurricane this summer when, during a Vulture interview, he said Colton Haynes’ way of coming out as a gay man was “pussy bullshit.” He has since apologized for his brazen words on Twitter. Now the young actor is opening up about what he learned from the highly publicized ordeal.
“But I totally recognize that I messed up in some ways,” the Real O’Neals actor told Variety. “I’m just trying to learn from those mistakes and move forward and try to be a great advocate for the LGBT community. The ultimate goal is to be a great actor and great advocate.”
The sitcom star also discussed his frame of mind when voicing that now-notorious rant about the LGBT community in Hollywood.
“I think in the moment, I was responding to frustrations that I felt in the business, being an out gay man in the business, and playing a gay kid on TV…. I engaged in a conversation — a very cavalier conversation.”
During the interview, the 22-year-old revealed that he still hasn’t spoken to Haynes since the controversy. When asked if he could say anything to the former Teen Wolf star, he stated: “I’d hope that he would read my Out article, for sure. I’d sort of just want to sit down and have a conversation with him. I’ve never had the chance to do that. And I’d love to just pick his brain and have him pick mine.”
