Azealia Banks Abandons Record Deal with RZA, Says Her ‘Femininity Feels Stained’ After Russell Crowe Incident
TMZ reports that Banks had been negotiating a deal to sign with RZA’s record label over the past three weeks, but after she was thrown out of Crowe’s get-together over the weekend for causing confrontation, she called off the business deal. RZA brought her as a plus-one, but his camp now insists that she is “full of it” when it comes to what really happened in Crowe’s hotel room and that her story is factually incorrect.
Banks still perpetuated her side of the story in an interview with The Sun, telling the British tabloid that she feels “stained” by the incident where she claimed that Crowe tried to choke her and called her the N-word.
“This is a stain on me,” Banks told The Sun. “My femininity feels stained. I feel stained as a woman, I feel mishandled, I feel mistreated, I feel dirty. I feel very f***ing low.”
Banks told The Sun that Crowe was allegedly mixing moonshine, whiskey, and marijuana, and tried to hit on her.
“You know, moonshine, whiskey, vodka, and smoking cigarettes and smoking weed,” she said. “Russell and I get next to each other. He’s talking to me, I’m talking to him, and we start flirting. We’re having a really good time. He’s got his knee on my knee, he’s touching my leg, I’m playing him my music, he tweets my song, ‘The Big Big Beat.’ He’s like, ‘I love this, you’re beautiful, this is great.’”
Banks said that another woman, who she assumed was Crowe’s girlfriend, tried to size her up at this point. After Banks had brushed it off, she mocked another guest, who was an aspiring horror filmmaker. Crowe allegedly told her that she’s “young” and has “never done anything in your career so you don’t know what you’re talking about” in response. Banks told Crowe, “Your best days are behind you.”
This is when another woman came to Crowe’s defense and Banks threatened her by saying, “Girl, this is not the right time or place for us to be fighting, like what would happen if I got up and I slapped the s*** out of you, or I took a glass and f***ing threw it at you and you were bleeding all over the place? I would be wrong and we’d all be wrong, and the party would be done.’”
Banks claims that Crowe called her the N-word, picked her up, spit on her, and threw her out of the room. Read her full account here.
