Lady Gaga Talks Taylor Kinney and Underwear Glue with Howard Stern
Lady Gaga is hitting all the stops to promote her new album, Joanne. Following a fantastic performance on Saturday Night Live, she sat down with Howard Stern for nearly an hour and a half to talk about the new album and her old flame.
When Stern asked about her relationship with her ex Taylor Kinney, Gaga said they’re still very close. “I hate to sound like a hippie but I kind of am one and so is he. We love each other, that’s it,” she told Stern.
Gaga said “life changes” were to blame for the break-up and credited Kinney for being cool about her creative transformations over the years. “There’s a lot on this album that was inspired by our relationship.”
Though she may not have Kinney in her life anymore, there is one guy Gaga can always call when she has a bad day: Tony Bennett. Not only did they put out a great jazz album together, Bennett and Gaga have remained good friends. Sometimes she doesn’t even need to call him. “He’ll call me. Not when he’s having a bad day, but he has a sixth sense,” she said.
They also talked about Gaga’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. The singer says her new album clinched the spot for her. “The NFL wanted to hear the new record… and it was the record that sealed the deal,” she said. If the NFL likes it, it has to be good.
She also promised that there would be no wardrobe malfunctions because, even 12 years later, we can’t get over seeing two frames of a nipple on TV. This is where the conversation turned… let’s say, “specific.” Gaga went into great detail about how her outfits stay on her body.
“There’s actually no way,” she said of the possibility of a wardrobe malfunction. “[My stylist] will, from time to time, will glue my underwear to… my you-know-what, without even asking.”
Gaga went on to say that during her performance on SNL, she didn’t even realize she was glued into her costume. “He didn’t tell me, he just did it and When the show was over, I went to the bathroom and I was like ‘what the— I can’t get it off!'”
