Miley Cyrus Was ‘Too Stoned’ to Remember the Lyrics During Tribute to Bill Murray

Bill Murray may have received the Mark Twain Prize, but it was Miley Cyrus who stole the show when she forgot the lyrics to the song she wanted to perform for him.

The singer began to sing Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” in an attempt to honor the comedian but totally forgot the words to the song. “F–k, I f–ed up,” Cyrus was reportedly heard saying, “Sorry guys, I got too stoned. I smoked too much and forgot.”

However, Murray, being the nice man that he is, gave Cyrus a second chance. “We’re safe now. How ’bout those pipes? Do it again! Do it again!” he reportedly told the audience as they roared with laughter. “This is live entertainment! This is happening now in Washington, D.C. — the 51st state! If it had statehood, that wouldn’t have happened!”

And so the 23-year-old, who also starred in a Very Murray Christmas, came back on stage for the second time and performed the song without messing up the lyrics.

Other guests there to honor (and roast) the actor were Emma Stone, Aziz Ansari, Jimmy Kimmel, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Hader, and more.

The ceremony will air on PBS October 28th at 9:00 P.M.
