Coolio Won’t See Jail Time for Gun Possession, Judge Compliments His Hair

Coolio Says Airport Arrest for Possession of a Stolen Gun Was a 'Misunderstanding'
Rapper Coolio wants us to know it was all a “misunderstanding” after being arrested

Coolio was spared jail time after pleading guilty for possession of a concealed weapon on Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2016), and it turns out the judge also liked the rapper’s hairstyle.

The “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper , whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, was arrested and charged in September for having a firearm in his backpack at the Los Angeles International airport.

According to TMZ, instead of being sentenced to jail, the judge sentenced Coolio to three years of probation as well as 45 days of community service. If he is able to stay out of trouble for the next year, the felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor.

“A mistake was made, it was a misunderstanding,” Coolio told the court. “And I do not condone the use of firearms, legal or illegal. Thanks to the court and the attorneys handling this for me so I can still do the work that I do.”

After the sentencing, the judge complimented the rapper’s new hairstyle. “You have a different little hair style,” the judge said. “It fits you.”

This isn’t Coolio’s first run-in at LAX. In 2006, he was busted after TSA allegedly found drugs in his luggage. He was also charged with battery after allegedly hitting an airport security guard’s arm.
