Hilary Duff and Boyfriend Jason Walsh Apologize for Insensitive Halloween Costumes: ‘It Was Not Properly Thought Through’
Hilary Duff now realizes the error of her ways.
On Friday (Oct. 28, 2016), Duff and her boyfriend Jason Walsh attended a Halloween party, their first official appearance as a couple, dressed as a Native American and a pilgrim. Immediately, fans called them out for their culturally insensitive costumes, “HILARY DUFF YOUR COSTUME IS SO YESTERDAY,” one Twitter user wrote. Another added, “No @HilaryDuff Traditional dress is not a costume and you being dressed as a pilgrim proves to me how insensitive and ignorant you are.”
On Sunday (Oct. 30, 2016), Duff and Walsh took to social media to apologize for their costumes, revealing they did not know how offensive they were. Duff wrote on Twitter:
