Woman Accuses Mark Salling of Rape, D.A. Rejects Case
According to TMZ, the woman claims that she and Salling entered a room to have intercourse, but she changed her mind and told Salling that she didn’t want to have sex. “I can’t do this,” were her words to the actor, from the police report, but even so, Salling allegedly continued to force himself on her anyway. The woman said that she and Salling had been dating for a few months before this incident took place.
The 22-year-old filed this police report in April of 2016, which is four years after the alleged incident took place. She told TMZ that she knew months earlier that Salling had been arrested for his possession of child porn. The L.A. County D.A. is deciding whether charges should be filed against Salling.
Salling was arrested in December 2015 on suspicion of his possession of child pornography, both photo and video, and was indicted on two child porn charges in May of 2016. Salling pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was also accused of forcing himself upon his ex-girlfriend Roxanne Gorzela in a lawsuit from January 2013. This case was settled in March 2015 when Salling paid her over $2.7 million.
Update — Oct. 31, 3:37 p.m. ET:The L.A. County District Attorney rejected the rape case against Salling citing insufficient evidence, lack of corroboration, and a 4-year delay in reporting the alleged crime, according to TMZ. The woman who claimed that Salling raped her says she was a 22-year-old virgin at the time and told him, “I don’t know if I can do this.” She says that he persisted and gave her alcohol before proceeding to have sex with her against her will. The alleged victim said that he needed “five more minutes” and did not stop engaging in intercourse. She eventually blacked out and woke up with him sleeping next to her.
The woman says that she consented when Salling wanted to have sex the next morning. TMZ reports that the D.A. would consider opening the case if more evidence surfaces.
