Another Live-Action ‘Snow White’ Is in the Works

With The Jungle Book, Cinderella and Maleficent delivering big paydays for the House of Mouse, another timeless fairytale is getting lined up for the live-action treatment: Snow White.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Erin Cressida Wilson, the scribe behind The Girl on the Train adaptation, is currently in negotiations to write the script. New music is reportedly going to be written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, whose music has been making waves in the indie darling La La Land.

This news is particularly special because the Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was the first feature-length animated film the studio produced in 1937, beginning a legacy that is carefully curated to this day.

Before moviegoers are treated to Snow White, they’ll be circling back to some other beloved Disney properties with the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast and Cruella, a retelling of 101 Dalmatians from the villain’s perspective. Director Guy Ritchie is also hard at work on a live-action adaptation of Aladdin.

Soon, no animated stone will be left unturned!
