Here’s Why Mariah Carey Wants $50 Million from Ex-Fiancé James Packer

Mariah Carey and billionaire (ex-)fiancé James Packer had agreed on a $50 million prenup arrangement.

Despite previous reports claiming the singer was demanding money as compensation for the highly-publicized disagreement the couple had on a yacht in Greece, TMZ now reveals it’s because that is the amount she would have walked away with had they signed their marriage prenup.

According to the website, an email chain from back in February reveals that the Australian businessman was eager to marry Carey on March 1. However, the former couple’s legal teams were taking their time with the complicated, 100-page agreement.

In fact, it was so complicated that one condition even required the “Always Be My Baby” singer to return any jewelry to Packer if the two split up. However, Carey would be allowed to keep some items if Packer sent her a signed note saying it was a gift.

Now, those are some specific details…

But when Packer’s legal team told him they wouldn’t be able to get the prenup ready in time, the billionaire allegedly responded: “I don’t know who’s working for who because there are a lot of names I haven’t heard before on this email chain. The people who work for me — message — do as I say or f–k off. I want to get married on March 1st. James.”

They broke up and so the prenup was never signed, yet Carey still wants her money. We’re interested to see how this will all play out.
