Peyton Manning to Make Acting Debut on ‘Modern Family’

Peyton Manning is heading to TV! The two-time Super Bowl champ is trying his hand at acting by making his formal debut on ABC’s Modern Family.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the former Denver Broncos quarterback will appear on the current season’s 12th episode, guest starring as a coach brought in by Gloria (Sofia Vergara) to teach baby Joe how to throw and catch.

This gig will be Manning’s first role in which he does not play himself. Previously, the retired NFL star hosted Saturday Night Live in 2007 and appeared as himself on shows such as The Simpsons, American Idol and Neil Patrick Harris’ short-lived variety show, Best Time Ever(Not to mention, Manning has also starred in all those catchy Nationwide commercials where he sings the jingle.)

In March, fresh from his Super Bowl 50 win, the 40-year-old confirmed that he was retiring from football after 18 season in the NFL.

“Football fans don’t even know how much they meant to me over the years,” he said between tears during a press conference. “Fans you are at the core of what makes this game remarkable … [You have] given me a voice that can echo well beyond the game.”
