Megyn Kelly on Donald Trump’s Win: ‘Love Him or Hate Him, He’s the Next President of Our Country’
The morning after the hotly-contested 2016 presidential election drew to a close with Donald Trump edging out a win, Megyn Kelly dropped by Live with Kelly to stand in as a guest co-host and offer her thoughts on what turned out to be a shocker of an election night.
“What they think so far is that there really was a hidden Trump vote,” the Fox News pundit said, via Entertainment Tonight. “Some people felt stigmatized about voting for Donald Trump and didn’t want to tell the pollsters who they were voting for, but they did want to go into the polling booth and do what they felt was right. It was a resounding victory, there’s no question about it.”
The 45-year-old anchor admitted that such a drastic and unexpected turnaround for the Republican presidential candidate was a bombshell for journalists as well as average citizens.
“I’ve never seen anything like this and I don’t think we’re ever going to see anything like this in our lifetimes,” Kelly told Kelly Ripa. “I think you’ll never have a result this shocking, where people got it this shockingly wrong.”
Kelly went on to encourage Americans to “keep an open mind” concerning Trump’s presidency, hinting that unity is important for the country now more than ever.
“Love him or hate him, he’s the next president of our country,” Kelly stated, then offered despondent voters a ray of hope concerning the future of the country:
“Its all winds up being okay,” she said. “For the people who are feeling upset today, this is the United States of America and it’s the most glorious place to live in the world.”
