Leonard Cohen Dead at 82: Celebrities Pay Tribute to the Singer-Songwriter

Leonard Cohen, legendary singer-songwriter, poet, novelist, and artist, has died at age 82.

His record label, Sony Music Canada, confirmed the news on Cohen’s official Facebook page on Thursday (Nov. 10, 2016). “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter, and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away,” the post read. “We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.”

“My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records,” Cohen’s son Adam told Rolling Stone. “He was writing up until his last moments with his unique brand of humor.”

Shortly after his passing was announced, celebrities immediately began taking to their social media accounts to pay tribute to the singer. Everyone from Olivia Wilde to Justin Timberlake and even Lena Dunham, who’s stayed quiet since Hillary Clinton lost the election, paid their respect to the man who gave us “Hallelujah.”

So long, Leonard, it’s time that we began to laugh and cry and cry and laugh about it all again. ❤️ RIP ❤️
