Kendall Jenner “shocked the world,” as Ellen DeGeneres puts it, when she deleted her Instagram account earlier this week. On Wednesday (Nov. 16, 2016), she appeared on the comedian’s daytime talk show to explain why.

Jenner says she was shocked that her account’s disappearance became such big news. She didn’t even hear that it had become such big news until later because she’s also ditched the Twitter app from her phone.

“My friends kept texting me… and I was like, ‘how does everyone know?’ and they started sending me links to, like, CNN and all these things, and I was like, ‘Why is this even this big of a deal?'”

DeGeneres then asked Jenner the question we’ve all been wondering since the news broke on Monday: Why? She gave an answer we can all relate to sometimes.

“I just wanted to detox. I just wanted a little bit of a break. I was always on it, I feel, I would wake up in the morning and I would look at it first thing. I would go to bed and it was the last thing I would look at. I felt a little too dependent on it,” she said.

Kendall fans need not despair, though. She promised that this is only a temporary break. “I’ll be back,” she said. After all, it’s been two days and she’s starting to feel the withdrawal.
