Perrie Edwards Took Aim at Gigi Hadid in the Original Lyrics for ‘Shout Out to My Ex’

Gigi Hadid Discusses Being Serenaded by Shirtless Zayn Malik
Gigi Hadid can add yet another magazine cover to her never-ending list...

You already suspected Little Mix’s anthem “Shout Out to My Ex” was all about Zayn Malik and how he did Perrie Edwards wrong. But up until now, you probably didn’t know the song originally included a blatant jab at Malik’s new lady Gigi Hadid as well! In a new interview with News AU, the girls explained why the line changed.

Here’s the line in question from the song: “Heard he in love with some other chick, yeah yeah that hurt me I’ll admit, forget that boy I’m over it.”

Okay, here’s the original line: “’Heard he been fucking some model chick, yeah that shit hurt I’ll admit, but fuck that boy I’m over it.”

Yep. It’s impossible to miss that one.

Although the track is about moving forward after heartbreak, Edwards admitted it was cathartic to pencil in some swear words, even if they didn’t make the final cut.

We had to make it clean,” Edwards said. “We didn’t want to have the parental advisory sticker on our albums and singles. Even though our fans are our age, 20 or over 18, we still have a lot of young fans. But it does feel good to swear, doesn’t it?”
