WATCH: Kathy Griffin Recalls ‘Creepy’ Encounter with Woody Allen
Kathy Griffin has meet a lot of celebrities in her lifetime. However, the weirdest encounter of all was perhaps when she was seated next to director Woody Allen at a small dinner party for the rich and famous.
During a recent interview with The Huffington Post on AOL’s Build Series, the comedienne explained that she just had to write about the meeting in her new book, Celebrity Run-Ins, My A-Z Index, simply because it was a total “a jaw-dropper.”
Recalling that she was “uncomfortable” sitting next to the director, who infamously married his adopted daughter and was accused of sexual assault by another one of his adopted children, Griffin explained that their meeting started off on a strange note when Allen introduced his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, as his “child bride.”
“Oh, hold on! It gets way weirder,” she told the crowd. Attempting to make conversation, Griffin claimed she tried to break the tension by joking about her hot take on the “new Miley Cyrus gossip,” only have Allen confide in her that he’s a huge Hannah Montana fan. Like, HUGE.
“‘I’ve never missed Hannah Montana,” Griffin remembered Allen telling her with a serious face. “‘I don’t know, that girl just had something.’ And I go, ‘Yeah, she was 8!'”
“And then he goes, ‘It’s kinda sad what’s happened to her,'” she continued. “I said something like, ‘Well, you know celebrities. You’ve met them all, Woody!’ And he said, ‘And now I have to watch my friend Bill Cosby get railroaded.'”
What. The. Fuck.
