Susan Sarandon and Debra Messing Are Still Feuding About the Election

Even though the 2016 presidential election is over, some celebrities are still reeling over the results. Case in point: the ongoing beef between Jill Stein endorser Susan Sarandon and staunch Hillary Clinton supporter Debra Messing.

Everything first started when Sarandon seemingly endorsed Trump back in March, telling MSNBC, “Well, you know, some people feel Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately. If he gets in, then things will really explode.”

Though the actress later clarified that she wouldn’t be voting for Trump, Messing called out Sarandon at the time and claimed that the implication was a slight against Hillary Clinton, who would become Trump’s major party opponent as the Democratic presidential candidate.

“She had said Bernie [Sanders] is a revolution. Saying Trump would hasten the revolution implies a vote toward Trump,” Messing tweeted at the time. “I believe she meant a ‘revolution’ was needed and if not thru Bernie, than at least thru Trump.”

Sarandon then responded:

Though it seemed the feud ended there, everything was reignited this week when a fan asked Messing about Sarandon on Twitter. Without missing a beat, the Will & Grace star responded, “She encouraged ppl to vote for Trump over HRC on a news interview. Said she was more ‘dangerous.’ She needs to be held accountable.”

“I wud like her to say that she regrets not simply saying she’s voting 3rd party. Vs. Saying a revol with DJT cud be,” Messing added of Sarandon, who publicly endorsed a Green Party candidate in early November.

Sarandon then threw some shade by implying that Messing doesn’t care about the ongoing protest at Standing Rock against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

“I know Debra cares about a lot and hope she will care about #NoDAPL as well since Standing Rock needs her voice now more than ever,” she tweeted. “Hope u use ur energy 2 tell ur followers bout inhuman treatment of Standing Rock water protectors. Urgent! #NoDAPL.”
