Lauren Jauregui Comes Out as Bisexual in Open Letter to Trump Supporters
Jauregui addresses her letter to Trump supporters who claim voting for Trump does not make them racist, homophobic or sexist, and calls them hypocrites.
“Restoring the America-that-was is only stagnating the progresion of our consciousness,” she wrote. “You voted for a person who built an 18-month campaign off the back of your hatred… You wanna restore America to a world where the human beings around you feel scared to be themselves and live and love freely?”
Jauregui goes on to say that she is proud to be who she is before publicly revealing her sexuality for the first time. “I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it,” she says. “I am proud to be the granddaughter and daughter of immigrants who were brave enough to leave their homes and come to a whole new world with a different language and culture and immerse themselves fearlessly to start a better life for themselves and their families.
She closes the letter by telling every Trump supporter to travel and read a history book and asserting that people like her aren’t whining about losing an election. “We are making sure you hear us, no matter how much it bothers you, we EXIST.”
