Kim Kardashian Is ‘Terrified’ as John Legend Expresses Concern Over Kanye West’s Health
Those nearest and dearest to Kanye West are said to be in a worried panic.
After word got out that the rapper had been hospitalized late Monday (Nov. 21, 2016) for “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration,” Kim Kardashian pulled out of what was to be her first public appearance since her harrowing robbery in Paris to be by her husband’s side. According to a source, the mom-of-two was ready to attend the Angel Ball in New York City that night, but immediately canceled and flew back to the west coast upon hearing the news.
“Kim was terrified,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight. “She was so scared when she heard the news and rushed to his side. There was no question about her staying in NYC. She had to be with him last night.”
“Kim was so excited to go to the Angel Ball,” the source added about the black-tie event, which honored the late Robert Kardashian for his contributions to cancer research. “She got herself ready for last night to be her first public appearance. It’s a cause that is so important to her and she wanted to be there for her family.”
“It was a combination of a lot of issues: stress, anxiety, paranoia. He just broke,” the insider said of West, who was placed in a 5150 psychiatric hold by his doctor in an attempt to prevent him from causing harm himself or other people. “There have been signs recently of him just overwhelmed. He has a lot going on: multiple fashion lines, the tour, his business, being a father. And then the Paris incident also threw him for a big loop. His mother passed away this time of year. So, there is a lot going on right now. Kanye hasn’t been himself for a while.”
“Before Paris, there were a lot of things Kanye committed to work wise that he couldn’t cancel. All he wanted to do was stay home with Kim and the kids, and he couldn’t,” the source continued. “He realized he couldn’t do it all and just broke.”
Prior to the incident, West canceled the remaining 21 tour dates of his Saint Pablo Tour after ranting about pals Beyoncé and Jay Z onstage at the final show. According to close friend John Legend, West was already showing warning signs of breakdown before he was admitted to a treatment center.
“We were with Kim actually, you know, right before all of that,” Legend told CBS This Morning on Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2016). Though the “Love Me Now” singer did not detail what he observed, he said, “I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he’s getting some rest and some time to figure things out.”

Since West’s hospitalization, many celebrities have voiced their support for the “Fade” emcee and expressed their wishes for his recovery recovery.
“[I think he’s] just really tired,” West’s mother-in-law told Entertainment Tonight of the rapper. “It’s a grueling tour.”
