WATCH: The New ‘Passengers’ Trailer Will Leave You on the Edge of Your Seat

Here's How Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt Prepared for Their 'Passengers' Sex Scene
Nothing sets the mood quite like like fine wine and a Jim Carrey movie.

Passengers, a movie about mankind being trapped on a sinking ship, seems like an appropriate way to end the year, no?

Just like 2016, things get really intense in the new trailer for the sci-fi thriller. Between multiple explosions and failing gravity, worlds are literally being turned upside down.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, the flick centers around two people who wake from their hibernation pods 90 years before they reach their destination. As they fall in love as one another only living companions, they discover that their ship is doomed to collapse and the only way is survive is to uncover the truth behind its malfunction. (Think: Titanic in space.)

“The greatest migration in human history,” Lawrence character says in one clip, “Stranded on a sinking ship.”

Also starring Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne, the movie is directed by The Imitation Game’s Morten Tyldum.

“I really am extremely proud of this movie,” Pratt said at CinemaCon earlier this year. Lawrence then added, “Me too. If that sounded like I was being sarcastic, I was not. I want to make it clear that I am serious.”

Passengers opens in theaters Dec. 21.
