Alexis Bledel Doesn’t Think Rory Was ‘Emotionally Invested’ in Her Shocking Relationship

'Gilmore Girls' Cast and Creator Say More Episodes Might Be on the Way
The Gilmore Girls creator said that more episodes of the Netflix revival could be on the way

When Netflix first announced it was officially bringing Gilmore Girls back to the small screen, fans thought they would finally get the answer to the question that’s been bugging them for years: who does Rory Gilmore find herself with in the end?

This is why fans were so shocked to find out that Rory didn’t end up with Dean, Jess, or Logan. Instead, she was in a long-term relationship with the forgettable Paul. But things aren’t as cut and dried as they seem. While they weren’t officially together, Rory and Logan were still acting like a couple every time Rory headed to London despite the fact that they were seeing other people.

Even though it wasn’t the first time Rory was the “other woman” (no one can forget when she lost her virginity to Dean — while he was married!) the relationship still shocked fans and the cast too, as it turns out. “It did surprise me,” Alexis Bledel, who plays Rory told Entertainment Tonight. “And I think it’s a little uncomfortable for [Rory], even though she’s kind of putting on a brave face that she’s fine with it.”

“I think she’s actually not that emotionally connected to it,” she continued. “I think she’s kind of just going through the motions at this point when we pick up with them.”

Bledel’s co-star Matt Czuchry agrees, pointing out that his character (Logan) and Rory weren’t ready to say goodbye to each other. “I think they were both in the same place at the same time,” he admitted. “Rory and Logan have always had a love for each other that has gone back and forth, and they’ve never really wanted to say goodbye. They’re both in the same place at the same time in this particular story, so it’s a mutual relationship that they’re carrying on.”

On a lighter note, Bledel stopped by The Tonight Show to talk about the show with newly-minted Gilmore Girls fan, host Jimmy Fallon. Fallon is currently watching the original show on Netflix and is only on season four, so he tried his best to avoid talking about A Year in the Life spoilers, instead, asking Bledel to name her favorite GG characters.
