Drake Is Spotify’s Most-Streamed Artist in 2016

Drake is Spotify’s most-streamed artist for the second year in the row thanks to all of the times you listened to “One Dance” on repeat.

The Views artist pulled in 4.7 billion streams over the past year. Half of these tallied listens are attributed to his latest album despite its exclusivity to Apple Music for the two weeks after its release. “One Dance” was streamed 960 million times which, according to the BBC, would take 5,200 years to stream consecutively. Rihanna was the most-streamed female artist while Zayn Malik was the top-streamed new artist. David Bowie received the most streams as an “alternative” artist after he passed away in January while the Beatles became the biggest classic rock artists when their discography was made available on streaming services in December.
