Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ ‘This Is What You Came For’ Reaches Over 1 Billion Views on YouTube
On Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2016), Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s club anthem “This Is What You Came For” achieved something pretty special in the rarified upper echelons of pop music – the track reached one billion views on YouTube. This is the Scottish DJ’s first song to cross that coveted line, however his co-writer on the track is practically the president of the club! Of course, we’re referring to Taylor Swift.
As of now, “This Is What You Came For” has 1,006,020,279 views since being released on June 16, 2016. Swift, though, holds both number five and seven on YouTube’s most-viewed list. And Rihanna’s track with Eminem “Love the Way You Lie” holds number 22 on the breakdown. Justin Bieber, Adele and Katy Perry all have multiple spots on the list as well. However, the reigning champ in YouTube views is the South Korean pop star Psy for his ludicrously infectious 2012 hit “Gangnam Style.”
After it was revealed that Swift had a hand in Harris’ new hit track, he confessed that when it comes to writing pop songs, Swift is a veteran.
“Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual,” he tweeted.
